Chapter 6:

Recollections

“Capper! What are you writing now?Is it more on that novel you want to get published?” Brian exclaimed coming into Anna’s house late one weekend night.

“Yeah. I have homework to do, bu I had a great idea and haven’t been able to stop.” Anna smiled giving Brian a light kiss.

“Have you kept up with your pen top?” Brian joked.

“Actually, yes. It’s on the pen. Be proud. It makes me made every time I loose one.”

“Well, are you close to a stopping point? I need you to go over some of this math with me.”

“Sure thing Ric-Rac. Grab a snack and drink. I’ll be there in a few.”

“Brian! Earth to Brian!” Nick’s voice echoed through Brian’s mind. “Where have you been all day. Defiantly not here. Ever since that interview. Have you even seen that girl since?”

“Yeah. We got together one time.” Brian sighed remembering the difficult previous evening.

“Really? Did you have fun?”

“I guess.” Brian thought about how at times he thought Anna would just have fun, but then that wall of ice would return and he’d have to start all over.

I thought you’d at least
give me one chance
but as results show
you want no happy ending
Why make it so hard?
I don’t see the logic
behind your blind reasoning

“Anna! Are you okay?” Sara questioned the red-faced girl that was supposedly Anna.

“What?! Yeah, I’m fine. Just really tired. I had a lot on my mind last night. Couldn’t sleep so I wrote about it. You know how I am.” Anna sleepily said picking up her pen. “Well, I have a lot of work and editing to catch up on.”

“Okay, I’m here thought if you need me.”

“Thanks, Sara. I will call you soon. You know that interview you did earlier this week?”

“Yeah?”

“I need it written up in three days. So be ready.”

“Sure thing. I’ve already started on it. I’ll put it in your box when I’m done.”

“Okay.” Anna sighed rubbing her forehead. A headache was trying to attack her already confused mind. She knew she need to work on editing for the magazine, but Brian mentioned her book she used to work on. She just had to get it back out and look over it. She had never worked on it since Brian left. The desire left her. Every single thing about it reminded her of him.

She pulled the pages out of the notebook she had kept it in over the years. Flipping thought the pages brought back so many scenes through her life. Brian was in each one.

You haunt my past
I have no where to turn
Why did you have to come
with your perfection
shining through
I still love you
but I just can’t
take that chance
