Chapter 7:

Is It Really Goodbye?

A week passed quickly at the office for Anne. The monthly issue was due in a matter of days. Luckily she was ahead of schedule.

Barely at all had she talked to Brian. There was always too much work to do. At least that was her excuse.

“Hey girl! You look like you’re in a good mood this morning.” Sara noticed as Anna practically skipped towards he office. “Too much coffee or something?”

“No,” Anna simply replied.” Just felt like being chipper. Is that okay? If you want me to mop around I can still do that.”

“No! It’s fine! Just don’t come crashing back down on me.”

“I’ll try not to.” Anna finished, then closed the door to her office. Over the weekend she poured all her time into her long forgotten novel. Yes, it did hurt to read the scenes she had based on her days with Brian, but it helped her forgive him in the process. Just like her main character, a.k.a. her, had her boyfriend, a.k.a Brian, when things had gotten extremely rough.

Now she was almost finished writing and at the moment she had some time to keep writing. Soon all she’d have left was to edit.

About an hour later, a visitor opened Anna’s office door to find her frantically searching the floor for a missing item.

“Where is it?” Anna frustratedly questioned herself.

“What are you looking for?” Brian smiled supressing laughter.

Anna could only blush. “My pen cap.” She quietly mumbled as she stood up and dusted off her pants.

Brian couldn’t hold it any more and started to laugh, loudly.

“Just shut up! It was here a second ago!” Anna defended. She hated to show she really hadn’t changed. Brian would know exactly how to make her melt if he knew.

“Capper.” Brian stated walking towards Anna.

“Don’t start with that.” Anna demanded trying to put her wall of protection back in place. It was too late.

She felt Brian’s hands on her hips, pulling her closer.

“You haven’t changed. You’re trying to prove to me that you’re not my Capper. There is no way to always hide from me.” Brian whispered.

“What are you talking about? I’m not hiding anything. This who I am.”

“No, it’s not and you know it.”

“You’re wrong. You don’t really know who I a....”

Brian cut her off with a gentle kiss. He pulled her even closer as he continued to deepen the kiss.

Anna slowly let her arms wrap around Brian. She fought to resist his love, but that was completely impossible.

Suddenly, hidden anger shot out of Anna as she jerked roughly away from Brian. She pulled her hand back, slapping him hard across his left cheek.

Brian’s eyes showed pure shock, then almost started to tear up.

“I don’t know how I let you do this! The person who left me standing in the hallway at school, left me heart broken while you swooned millions of other girls and denied ever having loved another besides Lieghanne. I sat by and watched all this. No, I’m not about to change my mind!

“I want you out of my life for good. I’m serious Brian Thomas Littrell. Don’t try and pull any romantic moves on me. I never want to see you again!” Anna hollered. Silently she waited for Brian to walk out the door, out of her life.

I got you now,
You’re gone for good.
I won this battle
Just like I knew
I would.
No happy ending
as you predicted
Only pain and suffering
which is all I now know.
