The episodes where lots of different characters get to shine are my favorites.

This episode features our first “major” character death. Up until recent years (like say 2016 when Dead 7 came out), real life JC was the only NSYNC member I liked. Cause I heard his solo song in like 2003 and liked it enough to get his album. But I think it was my idea to kill him in this lol. I wanted the angst. And I stand by it. This shows there’s no redeeming Drums in Nick’s eyes. He can’t save him. He can only end things. Plus if I’m being honest this gave us the excuse to bring in Leo and I love playing the similarities between him and Nick in this story.

Julie: I also think it was a good decision. Killing characters really raises the stakes in a story like this and shows readers that, even though it’s often lighthearted and silly, it can also get dark and downright serious. For me, it was easy to let JC go because I’ve never been a fan of him, yet he’s not as easy to mock as other members of NSYNC. (Mainly Justin and Lance, both of whom I love as characters in this story!) Although he had some funny scenes with Pearl in this episode, I don’t think JC’s short-lived character really added much to the story, so he wasn’t a huge loss. I’m sure we’ll talk more about Leo in a future blog, but I enjoy him much more than JC.

Dee: I’m no stranger to killing off main characters, so… I can’t remember why we decided, but I’m pretty sure it was something we’d planned from near the beginning of writing 00Carter. I think someone brought up that more NSYNC members should be in HimTak so we seemed less biased. I’m pretty sure Rose suggested adding JC to HimTak before she suggested killing him, lol. Didn’t we originally plan to kill him off in the beginning to make room for Brian? I think my only regret about killing JC off so early was that we didn’t get to see him on a full mission before he died, but overall, it’s not a huge loss. I think it’s good to remember that in life or death stakes, the heroes can also die.

“It’s a world of laughter, a world of tears…” This week we’re laughing over our latest reposted episode, “It’s a Small World.” I wrote the retrospective blog about it!

Read more

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[5

post-885","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-updates
["GET
