I’m back with an actual story update! Sorry, I know updates on The World Will Be Waiting have been slow lately. That’s due to a combination of factors: long chapters, slow writing speed, external distractions, and, at times, a lack of internal motivation on my part. To be clear, I love this story, and there is not a doubt in my mind that, barring some kind of tragedy that takes me out of commission, I will keep writing it to completion. But, after working on it literally every day for the past three years, I’ve definitely run out of steam and slowed down some. It happens; no one stays in the “honeymoon phase” of a novel forever, but working through the inevitable slumps is a part of the process of finishing one. While I do have a few other incomplete novels to my name, I usually finish what I start and am 100% committed to completing this one. I just want to reassure my readers of this, so you don’t assume that a lack of updates means a lack of commitment on my part.
With that being said, Chapter 73 of The World Will Be Waiting is up! This chapter has actually been finished for a while, but I’ve been holding onto it while I worked on the next one, which is almost done as well. This one revolves around the big Frick & Frack fight from the documentary. I’ve written a one-shot about that from Brian’s point of view, but it was interesting to look at it from Kevin’s point of view, especially through the unique lens he has in this particular story. I hope you enjoy it! Thanks for reading and for being patient with me!
That fight is really something else. What I can’t get over is that Nick says to Brian at one point is that he not afrade of him anymore. I’m not really sure what he ment, but I think that whole fight wasn’t just about Brian’s vocal issues; I think there a lot more things and baggage that was unspoken during that fight.
Off to read the chapter.
Oh BTW in what song does the lyrics purple jeans come in? I’ve tried to find it on the IAWLT, and I don’t think it’s there?
I know… I would love to know what exactly Nick meant by that comment, too. It’s definitely about more than just Brian’s vocal issues. The first time I saw that scene, I was kinda shocked by the way Nick and Brian shouted and cursed at each other. But as I thought more about it, I realized there is only one person in the world that I would dare talk to that way: my sister. Once I thought of it that way, it made more sense to me. They fight like brothers because they love each other like brothers.
Purple jeans is from “Love Somebody.” The full lyric is, “And the way that you look in those purple jeans… it’s still the sexiest thing that I’ve ever seen.”
Thanks for reading and commenting!
