Throwback Thursday #25: Top Five Fics That Make Me Proud

Merry Christmas! I hope everyone who celebrates it had a great holiday!

We’ve finally made it to the last Thursday of 2025 and the last in my series of Throwback Thursday blogs to coincide with my site’s twenty-fifth anniversary! I had a hard time deciding what to do for my twenty-fifth blog. My original idea was to count down my favorite Christmas chapters, but I already did something similar last December by sharing my favorite festive fics. Then I considered doing a “white elephant” inspired blog featuring a few of my favorite random chapters that didn’t fit in any of the other blogs, but I honestly didn’t have time to think it through thoroughly enough to put that list together. I did think about doing a list of my top five favorites out of all my fanfics, but it felt overwhelming trying to narrow twenty-five years worth of writing down to a top five. That’s why I opted to write twenty-five top five lists this year instead of trying to do a single top twenty-five list. Truthfully, I love every piece of fanfiction I’ve posted since Broken for one reason or another, and it would be too hard for me to try to rank them. But, in the end, I decided to blog about the five fics I’m most proud of.

Throwback Thursday #24: Top Five Favorite Dramatic Scenes

Happy December! We’ve made it to the last month of the year and the second-to-last Throwback Thursday blog. This week, I’m counting down my top five favorite dramatic scenes. If you’ve read my stories, you know I love drama, which is why I saved this blog for (almost) last! These are the moments that made my heart race as I was writing them and hopefully gave you the same kind of emotional reaction as you read them. That is why they are some of my all-time favorite chapters!

Throwback Thursday #23: Top Five Favorite Pivotal Moments

Happy Thanksgiving to those who are celebrating it today! As always, I am thankful for you, my readers, who continue to visit this site and what I write.

As we approach the end of November, the year is starting to wind down, and so is my series of Throwback Thursday blogs. There are only two more left after this one! But I’ve been saving some of the best for last.

In television, November is known as one of the “sweeps” periods of the year, when TV ratings are measured. Networks tend to air their most exciting, dramatic episodes, the kind with cliffhangers, big reveals, and important plot developments, to attract more viewers during these months. To coincide with November sweeps, I’m counting down my favorite pivotal moments from my fanfics, the turning points that changed the entire trajectory of a story. These are among my most memorable chapters, and just as I was excited to post them in the first place, I’ve been looking forward to blogging about them.

Throwback Thursday #22: Top Five Favorite Hurt/Comfort Scenes

Happy November! Did you know that November is National Family Caregivers Month, National Home Care and Hospice Month, and National Hospice and Palliative Care Month in the United States? Well, now you do! It’s also when my country celebrates Thanksgiving. So, to kick off this month of caring and gratitude, I’m spotlighting caregivers by counting down my five favorite hurt/comfort scenes.

As the name implies, “hurt/comfort” is a genre of fanfiction that involves one character being hurt in some way (physically or emotionally) and another character comforting or caring for them. I’ve always loved this genre, both in and outside of fanfic. It’s funny because I am not a touchy-feely person in real life and can be awkward around friends or family members who are going through tough stuff. When I’m the one who’s sick, hurt, or grieving, I usually prefer to be left alone. Perhaps it’s because I’m the introverted, stoic type that I admire people who are more outwardly affectionate and unafraid of expressing their emotions. It also may be why I tend to write characters who keep secrets and hide their pain until they literally can’t anymore. In any case, I really enjoy reading and writing about characters supporting and taking care of each other through hard times, as these five scenes show.

Throwback Thursday #21: Top Five Favorite Fanfictional Villains

Sadly, Spooky Season is almost over, but before we wrap up October, I’m posting one more Throwback Thursday blog. This one’s all about the bad guys – and bad girls! I’ve always loved a good villain, although, admittedly, I haven’t always been great at writing a good villain. But, over the years, I have gotten better at it. Here are my top five favorite fanfic villains!
