Throwback Thursday #18: Top Five Favorite Sad Scenes

In my last blog, I celebrated the start of sweet September by writing about my favorite feel-good scenes. This week, as September winds down, I’m going in a different direction and blogging about my favorite heartbreaking, tearjerking moments. It’s time for sad September!

I’ve always loved sad stories. I find it so cathartic to have a good cry over a tragic tearjerker, and I love creating fiction that inspires the same feeling in other readers. It may sound weird, but I take it as a huge compliment when someone leaves a comment and tells me I made them cry. I don’t often make myself cry while I’m writing (although it does happen once in a while), but when I actually tear up while reading one of my own stories, I know I nailed it. With that being said, here are my top five favorite sad scenes.

TWWBW Update!

This is not a drill, not a blog, but an actual story update!  The World Will Be Waiting has finally been updated with Chapter 75!  I’m sorry it took me so long to get around to posting this chapter.  It’s ridiculously long and took me the better part of the summer to finish.  It’s actually been done for a while, but August was such a busy month that I barely had time to write, let alone edit and update.  But I kept my daily writing streak alive, hitting the 1300-day milestone on August 13th!  Now that I’ve settled back into my school routine, September will hopefully be more productive on the fanfic front.

Speaking of fanfic, if you’re looking for a place to discuss fanfic, books, movies, and more, check out Mare’s Corner!  This message board was created by Mare, the moderator of Absolute Chaos, to replace the dying AC FicTalk forum.  There are only a few of us on the new board as of now, so it’s not super active, but we would welcome more members.  Please join us!

Throwback Thursday #17: Top Five Favorite Feel-Good Scenes

It’s Sweet September! For my first retrospective blog of the month, I’m reflecting on a few of my favorite feel-good scenes. These are the light, fluffy scenes that give you a much-needed break from the tragedy and turmoil in my stories. For me, these scenes tend to be a bit more forgettable than my heavy, dramatic scenes, but they always make me smile when I reread and remember them, so I’m taking this opportunity to show them some love. Without further ado, here are my top five sweet scenes!

Throwback Thursday #16: Top Five Favorite Fanfictional Howie Roles

I’m back with the next installment of my twenty-fifth anniversary blogs, and in honor of Howie’s birthday tomorrow, I’m looking back on my five favorite fanfictional Howies! To be honest, Howie has never been one of my favorite Backstreet Boys to write about. I love him, but I also find him kind of… dare I say boring? But, over the years, I’ve learned that when I add some “flavor” to spice things up a bit, he can become an interesting character. Here are my favorite versions of Howie I’ve written.

Throwback Thursday #15: Top Five Favorite Action Scenes

Welcome to Action August! I find action scenes to be some of the most challenging scenes to write because I have to include enough description to allow readers to visualize what’s happening in their heads without overloading them with details that slow down the fast pace. That means I can’t be too wordy, which is a challenge in itself at times for me. So when I do manage to find that perfect balance and construct a well-paced, cinematic, action-packed scene, I feel proud of myself. That’s why, this week, I’m counting down my five favorite action scenes!
