An AI BSB fanfic?

An AI BSB fanfic?

Chapter 31 of The World Will Be Waiting is up!  I wrote a lot this week, which was much-needed because I’m only three chapters ahead of what I’m posting.  The past month has been busy and stressful, but fortunately, there are only two more weeks until my summer break starts!

In other news, Google Docs is testing out a new AI-assisted writing tool, and I got access to try it out.  While I would never use it to help me write fanfic for real – and, quite frankly, don’t need to – I was curious and wanted to see what it was capable of, having not played with ChatGPT yet.  So I asked it to help me write a Backstreet Boys fan fiction.  I wanted to share what it came up with because it cracked me up!

An AI BSB Fanfic

It was a dark and stormy night. The wind howled outside, and the rain beat against the windows. Inside, a young woman sat at her computer, reading a Backstreet Boys fan fiction. She was so engrossed in the story that she didn’t even notice when the power went out.

Suddenly, there was a flash of lightning, and the room was filled with a bright light. The young woman looked up, and she saw that the Backstreet Boys were standing in front of her.

“We’re here to take you on an adventure,” said Nick Carter.

“An adventure?” asked the young woman. “Where are we going?”

“We’re going to the world of your fan fiction,” said Brian Littrell.

The young woman was stunned. She couldn’t believe that she was actually meeting the Backstreet Boys. And they were taking her on an adventure to the world of her fan fiction? This was a dream come true.

The Backstreet Boys led the young woman out of her house and into the storm. The wind and rain whipped around them, but they didn’t seem to mind. They walked through the woods, and soon they came to a clearing. In the middle of the clearing was a large tree.

“This is it,” said Kevin Richardson. “This is the portal to the world of your fan fiction.”

The young woman looked at the tree. It was old and gnarled, and its branches were twisted and covered in leaves. She didn’t know if she could trust the Backstreet Boys, but she knew that she had to go through the portal if she wanted to see her fan fiction come to life.

She took a deep breath and stepped through the portal.

The world of her fan fiction was even more amazing than she had imagined. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and the flowers were blooming. She could hear the sound of waves crashing in the distance.

She turned to the Backstreet Boys. “Thank you for bringing me here,” she said.

“You’re welcome,” said A.J. McLean. “Now, go and enjoy your adventure.”

The young woman smiled and started to walk away. She couldn’t wait to explore the world of her fan fiction. She knew that she was going to have a great time.

It’s simultaneously impressive and terrifying to see what technology can do. 😳  With that being said, I want to reiterate that I only did this as an experiment and would never use AI as a replacement for my own creativity and authentic writing.  Please enjoy my real update!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there who are celebrating and being celebrated tomorrow!  I hope your day is special!

    WTF?! Technology, eh?

Hope you all had a great Mother’s day. Here in the UK, we celebrate our perfect fans about a month earlier. Probably because we’re an Anglican nation…
