Happy Birthday, Brian!

It took every bit of my willpower to hold off on posting the last chapter of The Road to Bethlehem until today, Brian’s birthday.  Happy birthday, B-Rok!  Will the ending of the story be a happy one, too?  I hope you’ll read and find out!

Thanks, as always, to those who read this story and offered feedback along the way.  I had a lot of fun writing it.  I know the plot was a bit ridiculous, but to me, it was a perfect reflection of the ridiculousness that was 2020.  Let’s hope the rest of this year goes better for everyone, including our Boys!

This will probably be the last update you’ll get from me for a little while, until I have enough chapters banked of my next work-in-progress to feel comfortable posting it.  I wrote the beginning scene of the Brian drama/horror story I mentioned in a previous post, but I’ve spent the past couple of weeks working on My Brother’s Keeper, the Kevin/Nick drama I posted a sneak peek of three years ago and promptly abandoned when real life drama got in the way.  I always intended to come back to it when the time was right, and a month ago, I wasn’t thinking that time would be now… but I may have been wrong because I’ve been feeling super inspired for it again lately.  I did some much-needed revising to the last two chapters I had written of it and am now ready to move forward with writing more of it.  In the last few years, I’ve found that I’m more likely to stick to a weekly updating schedule when I wait to post a story until I have at least ten chapters finished, so that is my goal for now.  I have four chapters finished, so I’m getting there.  Hopefully I’ll have something ready to post by May, if not before.  I appreciate your patience, but also your enthusiasm!

End of The Road

Well, almost.  We’re one chapter away from the end of The Road to Bethlehem!  Chapter 21 has been posted.  The last one will be up next Saturday.

An early “Happy Valentine’s Day!” to those who care about Valentine’s Day.  Personally, I am more excited about Presidents’ Day and having an extra day off this weekend.  So here’s an early “Happy Presidents’ Day!” too.  I’ll be back to wish Brian a happy birthday next week!

Are you ready for some…

…fanfic?

Never fear, Chapter 20 of The Road to Bethlehem is here!  There are just two more chapters to go after this one, so things are starting to wind down.  I hope you enjoy the update!

Good luck to both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl tomorrow!  One of our Boys is going to be very happy with the outcome.  It’ll be interesting to see how it turns out.

Happy Birthday, Nick!

Told you I might be back with an early update for a certain Backstreet Boy’s birthday…  Happy birthday, Nicky Nick!

In honor of Mr. “19 in 99,” Chapter 19 of The Road to Bethlehem is up.  Am I cruel enough to kill Fic Nick on the real Nick’s birthday?  Read and find out! 😉

1 2 3 2 1

The title of this post comes from the fact that today’s date is a fun palindrome!  1-23-21… 1 2 3 2 1.  Lots of palindrome dates this week, but this one is my favorite.

What a rollercoaster January has been!  Lots of high points, but also some pretty low lows.  I’m already emotionally exhausted, and the year has just begun.

On a positive note, I actually finished The Road to Bethlehem this past weekend!  I am still in the process of re-reading the story and editing the last few chapters, so I’m going to stick to my posting schedule of one chapter a week for now.  This will give me more time to hopefully get going on a new project while I continue updating the site regularly, and if I have the willpower to hold off, the last chapter of Bethlehem will be posted on Brian’s birthday.  So you can look forward to another month of weekly updates or four more chapters after the one I posted today, Chapter 18.  I could be persuaded to post the next one a couple days early in honor of Mr. Carter’s upcoming birthday. 🙂

As for what my next project will be, I haven’t decided for sure yet, but I’m leaning towards a Brian drama/horror I’ve had outlined for a few years.  Those of you who were around then might remember a poll I posted back in the summer of 2017, shortly after finishing Sick as My Secrets, asking for your opinion on several different story ideas I was considering writing at that time.  I’m proud to say I have since finished two of the four ideas I proposed:  the BSB/ER crossover (Heroic Measures) and the Nick drama/suspense (A Heart That Isn’t Mine).  The Kevin/Nick drama was My Brother’s Keeper, the story I started and posted a sneak peek of at the beginning of 2018.  I intend to keep working on that one at some point, but I don’t think that point in time is now.  After my last two stories, I need to write something different before I go back to that one.  The fourth option was the Brian story I’ve been thinking about more lately.  All this real life drama surrounding Brian actually works well with the idea, which is why it may be the perfect time to write it.  But I also have a couple of newer suspense novel ideas and an idea for short story follow-up to Sick as My Secrets.  If any of these sound interesting to you, leave a comment and let me know!  I’m taking a break from writing this weekend after spending all last weekend glued to my computer, but I am hoping to start a new story soon!
