It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

And by that I mean it’s Halloween season!  My favorite!  But Christmas is coming up in a couple months, and that’s cool, too.  I’ve decided it’s the perfect time to post the beginning of my newest novel, which is sort of Christmas-themed, even though it takes place in June.  June of 2020, to be more specific.  It’s called The Road to Bethlehem.

Synopsis:
In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Backstreet Boys rent a remote mountain cabin where they can quarantine together and work on their long-anticipated Christmas album. But just days into their retreat, disaster strikes. When they find themselves in an increasingly dire situation, the five men fear they may not all make it out of the mountains alive.

I got the idea for this story back in May after watching this interview Nick did, where he talked about the Boys having conversations about a possible Christmas album (you know, the one they’ve talked about doing for years and still haven’t delivered) and needing to get creative to find ways to work on music, since it takes all five of them being together to record.   I loved the idea of the guys quarantining themselves together somewhere where they could work on the album, just the five of them, and thought that sounded like the perfect premise for a fanfic.  I was able to combine it with a couple other ideas I’d been thinking about that never quite came together on their own to form a plot that is fitting for a story set in 2020, as you will see.  I’ve been wanting to write a bromance that focused just on the five Boys and their friendship with each other, and finally, this is that story.  I’ve been working on it off and on for the past few months and am finally far enough into it that I feel comfortable posting it with the promise that I will continue to write it and hopefully finish in a timely manner.   The first two chapters are up to get the introduction out of the way, and I’ll be back next weekend with the next one.   I hope you enjoy the beginning!

Another story complete!

I actually finished Heroic Measures earlier this summer, but the Epilogue has been posted!  Thank you to everyone who read and gave feedback on this one.  You guys gave me something to look forward to on Thursday nights again, and hopefully I gave you something to look forward to as well.  Enjoy the ending!

I haven’t written anything for the last few weeks because I’ve been stressed and busy with school starting, but I hope to get back at it soon.  I did start a new novel back in May that I hope to start posting at some point this fall.  It takes place in the summer, but is sort of Christmas-themed… I’ll leave you to wonder about that for now.  I figured fall is the perfect time for its debut, so stay tuned.  You can subscribe to site updates in the sidebar on the right side (desktop layout) or bottom (mobile layout) of your screen.  You can also follow me on Twitter @rokofages75 to find out when I update.

Will he or won’t he?

We’re nearing the end of Heroic Measures.  The second to last chapter, Chapter 10, has been posted.  Finally, you’ll find out Brian’s fate – or at least whether he wakes up or not.  I’ll be back next week with the last chapter!

More Heroic Measures

Sadly, summer is winding down, and so is Heroic Measures.  Chapter 9 is up!  When I outlined this story, I thought this chapter would be the most boring one to write because it’s the least dramatic one since the crash, and you all know I prefer writing drama… but lo and behold, I think this may be my favorite chapter of the whole story!  I hope you’ll enjoy it, too.  Thanks, as always, for your feedback!

Ready for your weekly dose of drama?

I hope so ’cause it’s Thursday, and that means more Heroic Measures!  Chapter 8 is up, and you’re finally going to get an update on Howie and the other guys. Enjoy!

Now that it’s August, I’m getting into back to school mode, which means my productive writing summer is sadly winding down.  The good news is that I finished Heroic Measures back in June, so it doesn’t matter that I’m not writing right now!  The weekly updates will continue until the last chapter is posted.  There are just three more after this one!

By the way, I am still dealing with spam issues on the site.  If anyone has trouble leaving a comment or registering an account, please let me know.  I’m trying to find a good plugin that will block/delete the spambots without accidentally blocking/deleting real readers! I apologize if you’ve had any trouble. Thanks, as always, for reading and leaving feedback! I hope you know how much it means to me. Your comments are the light I look forward to the midst of these dark and scary times. I hope my stories are a good reminder that things could always be worse, LOL.
